Home Lock Installation

Project Overview

A young family bought a 1960s ranch with four exterior doors — each with a different decade-old lock and a keyring nobody could explain. Our brief: make every door secure, key them all alike, and keep the home's vintage character.

The Challenge

Two doors had 1-inch screws in paper-thin strikes, one frame was warped enough to jam the latch in summer, and the back door's deadbolt didn't reach the frame at all. Previous owners had simply added more locks instead of fixing the fit.

Our Approach

We stripped all four doors back to bare timber, re-hung the warped frame, fitted Grade-1 deadbolts with deep security strikes anchored into the studs, and pinned every lock to a single restricted keyway. The whole job finished in one morning — the family slept behind their new locks that night.
